Who runs this site
Useably is an independent research project operated by Brian Pitts, MD, MEHP. It is nota UC Davis Health–sanctioned application or service, and it is not endorsed by, operated by, or affiliated with UC Davis Health, the UC Davis School of Medicine, or the University of California beyond the oversight of the governing Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the associated study.
What we collect
As part of the research study, this application collects only the information needed to run the protocol and analyze results:
- Your study identifier and the sign-in credentials issued to you.
- Your responses to the study instruments (survey answers, case responses, and free-text entries).
- Timing and interaction events generated as you move through the protocol (for example, when a task starts and ends).
We do not sell your data, serve advertising, or use third-party tracking or analytics for marketing purposes.
How we use it
Your data is used solely to administer the study, analyze the research questions described in your consent form, and meet the record-keeping requirements of the governing IRB. Reported and published results use aggregated or de-identified data; free-text responses are reviewed and personally identifying details are redacted before analysis.
Storage, security, and access
Data is stored in an access-controlled database. Submitted study records are append-only and audited; corrections are tracked rather than silently overwritten. Access is limited to the study team. We retain data for as long as required by the study protocol and applicable institutional policy, after which it is de-identified or destroyed.
Your rights
Participation is voluntary. Your consent form is the authoritative description of your rights as a research participant, including how to withdraw and what happens to your data if you do. If anything here conflicts with your signed consent form, the consent form governs.
